Our sheds are fortified with advanced security features. Externally, we use galvanised T-hinges with tamper-proof screws. Internally, a long-throw bolt lock in hardened steel, supplied with four keys, secures the door. Inside, a 32mm galvanised steel SecureBar lets you lock bikes using D-locks or a chain.

Pine Slats

Machined profile, this cladding offers a more precise look. This is the option if you intend to paint your cladding, or it can be left to weather to a silver grey.

Brighton Bike Sheds offer full installation if you’re based in the South East of England and the surrounding areas. This is charged at £359.00 for large volume orders; additional charges may apply.

Self Assembly
Currently, full installation is the only option available for our cargo bike shed. However, all our other bike sheds are delivered for self-assembly everywhere within the UK Mainland.
Lead Time
We aim to install your cargo bike shed within 8 weeks from receipt of your order. This can extend to 12 weeks during periods of higher demand.

How does the sliding mechanism work?
The sliding mechanism is a simple push/pull mechanism which locks separately to the doors. It’s designed to slide back 1m allowing easy access inside the shed.
Can I Install The Cargo Bike Shed Myself?
No. The Cargo Bike Shed is only available with our installation service, due to the complexity of the installation. Our team of experts will handle every part of the installation and only ask that you prepare the ground where you would like your bike shed, making sure it is a level base and dry. Sending us images of the site will help this process along. Installation charges and coverage are on our delivery and installation page.
What happens if the ground is not ready on installation day?
We have to rebook, and the initial installation fee still applies. This is avoidable. The Cargo needs a level, dry base, so send us photographs of the site and its levels when you order and we will confirm it is suitable before the slot is booked. What add-ons are available with the Cargo Bike Shed?
Our Cargo bike storage shed is available with a variety of cladding options including Scottish Larch, Cedar Slats, Pine Slats and more.
Whilst The Cargo is our largest bike shed in width and depth, we’ve designed the height to be as low as possible so it’s suitable for front gardens. The Cargo has a sliding roof; because of this, you are unable to add optional side storage.
However, we do sell side storage as standalone units, including our wheelie bin sheds, parcel drop shed and outdoor log store shed.
Is the Cargo Bike Shed right for me?
If you have a large bike and require bicycle storage which is both weatherproof and secure against potential theft, our Cargo Bike Shed is the perfect solution.
These sheds are built for large and extra-large bikes, including extended-frame and cargo bikes, and take garden equipment like lawnmowers alongside. At 1.55m they stay low enough to sit behind a garden hedge, out of sight from passersby.
One feature setting these sheds apart from the rest is their 1m sliding roof mechanism, which makes parking and retrieving your bike as hassle-free as possible.
What size are our Cargo Bike Sheds?
The Cargo Bike Shed measures 1.55m Height, and 2.5m / 3m Depth, and the width varies depending on how many bikes you need to store.

Why won't my large bike fit in a standard bike shed?
Standard bike sheds are built around the length and width of an ordinary bicycle. Large and extra-large bikes, including extended-frame and cargo bikes, need more depth to sit in and more room to be manoeuvred. The Cargo is our largest bike shed in width and depth, which is why it exists as a separate model rather than a bigger version of our standard sheds.
Which depth do I need for a long bike?
Depth is the dimension that governs bike length. The Cargo comes in three depths, so choose the deeper version if your bike sits at the longer end of the range. Send us the make and model if you are not sure and we will confirm which depth to order.
Can I store a large bike alongside standard bikes?
Yes. The Cargo is sized by the number of bikes rather than by bike type, and comes in three widths for one, two or three bikes. Tell us the mix you are storing and we will confirm which width works.
How durable is the Cargo Bike Shed?
Our roofs are built to last, and you can even walk on them. The cladding is solid 20mm timber, which only gets better with age, turning a beautifully subtle silvery-grey.
Every shed is fitted with double-opening doors, each with a heavy-duty lock. An internal SecureBar is included as standard, providing a secure spot to D-lock your bikes.
How secure is the Cargo Bike Shed?
We’ve designed The Cargo Bike Shed to be as high security as possible, with security built into the sheds layer by layer to slow down intrusion and prevent silent attacks from happening.
There are three main security features built into The Cargo:
- Robust Door Hinges: We use heavy-duty galvanised T-hinges, fitted externally using galvanised steel security screws. A pair of 200m galvanised bolts lock off the secondary door internally. Turning the key on the primary door extends a hardened steel long-throw bolt behind the secondary door. The lock itself is coach bolted to the door frame to deter the use of crowbars.
- SecureBar: A thick-walled galvanised steel tube fitted into the frame on the back shed wall. It would require noisy power tools to cut through it. Our SecureBar is easy to lock bikes to using your D-locks, or a security chain and padlock that runs through all the bikes. (Or best of all, a combination of both chain and D-locks).
- Timber cladding: Timber cladding is firmly nailed on in three rows. Removal of it is made impossible by the roof overhang, which clamps the cladding in place around the top. Slatted cladding is given an additional run of lost head screws alongside the existing screws to deter the prising off of slats. The doors are given an extra layer of fixings and are nailed through the back and front.

How does the visualiser tool work?
To visualise your large bike storage shed, click on “Design your bike shed now” at the top of the page. This will open up our easy-to-use configuration tool where you can customise your shed, selecting the total bikes you need to store, depth and cladding options.
Once you’ve designed the shed, you can visualise it in your space to make sure it fits. Simply click on the AR tool, scan the QR code using your phone’s camera, follow the prompts and it’ll appear right in front of your eyes.
If you need a second opinion, whether your partner, family member or friend, simply click the share button and send a version of the final configuration to whoever you wish to see it.
Do we offer installation?
We do. In-fact, The Cargo is only supplied as an installed product due to the complexity of the installation. Our Full Installation package is £316, plus additional charges based on your chosen size.
For a successful installation, The Cargo requires a level base. If we are unable to install due to the ground being unprepared we reserve the right to re-book the installation and still charge the initial installation fee. Good planning and images of the site will prevent this from occurring.
Do we offer self-assembly on The Cargo Bike Shed?
The Cargo is only supplied as an installed product due to the complexity of installation. Please select the installation option at checkout.
Can I make a bespoke order?
If you require non-standard or bespoke sizes or finishes, use our bespoke enquiry form or email us at info@brightonbikesheds.co.uk with an image or two of the space. Please also include a description of your storage needs, dimensions (WxDxH), and your postcode. If you send a photo or a quick sketch of the layout, that really helps.
We’ll reply with a free detailed quotation. If you’re happy to proceed, just reply to confirm your order and we’ll send you an invoice for the agreed cost. Once we have received your payment, you will receive an installation date.
What is the lead time on ordering a Cargo Bike Shed?
We build every shed ourselves in our workshop, so the lead time reflects a build slot. Once you order, we’ll send a confirmation with an estimated installation date. Current lead times are on our delivery and installation page, and vary depending on the time of year.
Do you offer a guarantee?
If you have an issue with your large bike shed, please email us photos, and we’ll arrange a suitable date to fix it.
